Martin G. O'Grady, MD, FACS, General & Vascular Surgery
Dr. O'Grady received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and Milwaukee. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and also completed his surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
He returned to enter practice near Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1986-1989. In late 1989, he relocated his practice to Virginia Beach Surgery and has remained here until the present time.
Dr. O'Grady has served on numerous committees at Virginia Beach General Hospital as well as Department of Surgery Chairman. He has held positions as treasurer, vice-president, and president of the medical staff. He is currently the director of the Trauma program at Virginia Beach General Hospital. Dr. O'Grady enjoys a wide range of surgical practice in both general and vascular surgery.
Joseph M. Dalton, MD, FACS, General & Vascular Surgery
Dr. Dalton was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin & Marshall College in 1986 with departmental honors in Chemistry and a minor in Anthropology.
Dr. Dalton graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York in 1990. He was a surgical resident, chief resident and surgical fellow at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond.
Dr. Dalton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT), and the Medical Director of the Virginia Beach Surgery Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory. He practices general surgery, vascular surgery, and surgical oncology. He participates in trauma call at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and is an active member of the Virginia Beach General Medical Staff.
Dr. Dalton's wife, Catherine Anne Dalton , MD is from Chesapeake, Virginia. She practices outpatient internal medicine. They have two wonderful children, Jack and Matthew. The Dalton family enjoys traveling, alpine skiing and scuba diving.
Joseph P. McDermott, MD, FACS, General Surgery
Dr. McDermott is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his Doctorate of Medicine from New York Medical College. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. He finished a surgical endocsopy fellowship at the Medical Center of Central Massachussetts and was Visiting Fellow in surgery at the University College Dublin, Ireland. After training, Dr. McDermott served his country as a staff surgeon at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He has held academic appointments at E.V.M.S. and at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
Dr. McDermott is Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, He is a member of The American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Colorectal Surgeons. He practices all types of general surgery. His interest include cancer surgery and surgical endoscopy. He has multiple medical publications to his credit.
Riikka P. Mohorn, MD, General Surgery
Dr. Mohorn gradutated from Old Dominion University and received her Doctor of Medicine from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed her residency in General Surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Mohorn is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. She has been with Virginia Beach Surgery since 2006.
Dr. Mohorn is trained in all aspects of general and trauma surgery. She has interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery including single incision surgery, breast and hernia surgery, surgical oncology and endocrine surgery.
Dr. Mohorn is a native of Finland but has lived in Virginia Beach with her family for many years.
